AHTCA - ACT 3 RESOLUTION

Postby TEAMBRYANTRACING on Tue Aug 04, 2009 5:14 pm

Dear members,
i'm pleased to announce that as a result of the meeting at Cams yesterday between the AHTCA, ACT 3 and CAMS it appears likely that an agreement suitable to all parties may have been reached. It just needs final authorisation prior to the details being made public.
The reality is that there are allways two sides to the story and in this case - 3!
I'm confident that good relationships can now exist between all involved going forward.
As soon as the details are authorised i will print them here for all to see.
There were no winners or losers - i believe that all parties gained in essence what it was they wanted and were entitled to.
The details will soon follow.
kind regards,
Dean Bryant

Dear members,
Cams official responce has now been posted on the Cams website under the news link.
It is most pleasing that the relationship between the Biante guys and group N can again be positive and harmoneous for all involved.
Now we can all get back to what we do best - go racing!
cheers,
Dean Bryant

below is a copy of that release;

For some time a number of issues have arisen regarding the interface between the arrangements applicable to the operation of 5th category vehicles administered under the Historic discipline and those that have transitioned to become 3rd category vehicles and operate under the commercial Biante Touring Car Masters arrangements.

In order to canvas any issues, clarify any ambiguity/misunderstanding and to foster increased participation in the sport, CAMS CEO Graham Fountain convened a round table discussion held on 3 August 2009 with members of the Australian Historic Touring Car Association (AHTCA), ACT 3 as the Category Manager for the Biante National Series and CAMS management. This is the first real opportunity and certainly is the first time representatives of these groups and CAMS have come together around the same table to openly discuss these issues.

At this meeting a range of administrative arrangements were discussed with respect to the actual operation and interface of these categories. As a consequence of these discussions the following principles have been agreed upon:

• All parties seek to grow participation in the sport and co-exist within the CAMS motor sport fraternity;

• ACT 3 continues to honour their commitment to not use the term “historic” in relation to the promotion and/or any part of their category;

• There is no dispute with respect to the current vehicle eligibility requirements, which include:

Log book arrangements (i.e. vehicles in the Biante Touring Car Masters operate under a 3rd category non-historic logbook);
The transition arrangements for vehicles moving from and back into the 5th category (i.e. vehicles in the Biante Touring Car Masters surrender the 5th category historic logbook and take up a 3rd category logbook when moving into the category. For vehicles wishing to return to the 5th category they must re-apply and go through the full historic logbook process again including the relevant payments);

• The provisions of NCR 20D will apply for the determination of Championship, Cup, Trophy, Challenge or Series;

• The parties agree to the following:

AHTCA Cup can be conducted as either:
A standalone single event; or
A number of historic permitted events conducted as a multi-club point score and can also include the Muscle Car Masters Event and/or (in the case of Western Australia a local round WASCC event) as a round of the AHTCA Cup point score series;
Participation of a 5th category on a single round of a commercial event (e.g. a round of V8 Supercars) is not within the control of CAMS, AHTCA or ACT 3. However, the parties agree that when this does occur it will not form part of the point score series (which is within the control of AHTCA) and careful consideration and consultation with the relevant parties will occur with respect to applications for signage (which is within the control of CAMS).
CAMS and ACT 3 undertake to review and resolve in consultation with related parties any potential unintended flow-on consequence of the Category Management Agreement to any other vehicle types and current series being conducted (e.g. HQ’s etc...).
Warren Bossie, President of the AHTCA said, “Today’s meeting was the first time we have had an opportunity to properly engage in this issue and sit down with CAMS and representatives of ACT 3 and explore the issues of relevance to our ongoing relationship.

“The outcomes of this discussion have certainly cleared the air and established a very strong basis from which all parties can continue to co-exist into the future and we are very comfortable that we can continue to enjoy the historic motor sport that is important to us.”

Chris Stillwell on behalf of ACT 3 and the Biante Touring Car Masters said, “We have always maintained a commitment to work in partnership with and support CAMS, the Australian Historic Commission and importantly Historic Touring Car competitors.

“Today’s discussions have clearly led to a mutual understanding about both sides of the sport and we welcome the opportunity to move forward and forge a new partnership with AHTCA via CAMS for the future and trust any misunderstanding of our overall intentions in raising these issues are now laid to rest.”

CAMS CEO Graham Fountain agreed with the statements of AHTCA and ACT 3 saying, “As a consequence of the open and frank discussions today I am very confident that we can now move forward with an increased level of understanding and certainty for the future and ensure any ambiguity that existed is now clarified.

“This approach is totally consistent with CAMS overall commitment to increased communication and transparency and is one of many positive relationships that we hope to actively foster moving forward.”
