The mid-April pilgrimage from Victoria to Australia’s magic mountain of motorsport saw eight of the faithful on the long haul up the map. In qualifying order, Michael Miceli 6th (Ford Boss Mustang 302), Andrew Beard 10th and Adrian Moyle 11th (Chev Camaros), MoPar men Michael Hibbert 12th (Valiant Charger VH) and Keith Davidson 20th (Valiant Pacer VG), Stuart Bailey 39th (Cortina GT), Kim Shearn 40th (Lotus Cortina) and 2024 HTCAV Champ Pete Meuleman who had the kind of weekend nobody wants.
Race 1 saw Michael Miceli move up to fifth in the order (WA member Paul Stubber poled), Qld member Craig Allan was a second behind Miceli, Andrew Beard lobbed in 9th in a tight pack with Davidson and Hibbert, down the back Shearn and Bailey finished two seconds apart, having a great time. In Race 2 Miceli advanced into 4th, Beard to 7th, Hibbert to 9th, the returning Moyle to 13th ahead of Davidson and the two Cortina boys still having fun down the back. In Sunday’s final it was Moyle on the move up to 7th, Beard in 9th and Davidson two places further back. Miceli and Hibbert were retirements.
With the exception of the reigning Club Champ, it was a top weekend.
